Xiaomi's upcoming Mi 5 flagship smartphone, set to launch on Wednesday, has been leaked in a new image posted on the Weibo site - the China's Twitter equivalent.

In the leaked image, the front panel of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is seen with screen turned on. The same image also packs a screenshot showing details on innards of the Mi 5. Talking about the design, the leaked image purportedly shows the much-rumoured physical button on the front which sits right below the display. Several previous reports have claimed that the Xiaomi Mi 5's physical home button below the display will integrate the fingerprint scanner. If this turns out to be accurate, then the Mi 5 will be the first handset in Xiaomi's lineup to sport a physical home button and also the first flagship to feature the fingerprint recognition technology.

Other details tipped by the leaked screenshot include a 5.2-inch full-HD display; Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 clocked at 2.1GHz; 3GB of RAM; 64GB of storage, and running MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been so far rumoured to come in two memory and storage versions - 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage. It is also supposed to feature Quick Charge 3.0. The Chinese company is also said to use a pressure-sensitive touchscreen, which will be a technology similar to Apple's 3D Touch technology.

A recent retail packaging leak had tipped that the Mi 5 will feature a 5.15-inch full-HD display and will be powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 820 processor. The purported retail package sticker of the Mi 5 smartphone also added that the device will be backed by a 3000mAh battery and will sport a USB Type-C port. The smartphone was listed to pack a 16-megapixel rear camera alongside a 4-megapixel front camera.

The company has so far confirmed the chipset details alongside other details including dual-SIM functionality, and NFC connectivity. Recently, Xiaomi, following LG's lead, unveiled a protective case for the upcoming flagship Mi 5 smartphone. The company touted that the case had a thickness of 0.45 mm.

We are now just few days away from Xiaomi's February 24 launch event in China as well as a limited media preview at MWC 2016 in Barcelona the same day.
