Purported images of Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone, believed to be dubbed the Xiaomi Mi 5, have been leaked in China showing front panel of the device. The images posted by a Weibo user named iLevon show the rumoured Mi 5's bezel-less display.
The images are said to be from Xiaomi's production line. The leaked images indicate that Xiaomi will not make any major changes to the front panel of the Mi 4, except making the bezels slimmer. For those unaware, the Mi 4 features a stainless steel metal frame which the company at the launch had claimed "passes through 40 processes and 193 steps".
According to Gizchina, one of the leaked images suggests that Xiaomi might use a 2.5d curved display on the rumoured Mi 4 successor.
Talking about bezel-less screens, LG last month had announced that it has developed a 5.3-inch full-HD LCD panel for smartphones sporting what it claimed was "the world's narrowest bezel at 0.7mm."
In one of the leaked images, home screen of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is purportedly shown possibly sporting what seems like the next version of MIUI. Xiaomi Mi 4 was launched sporting MIUI 6, which is being rolled out to older Mi devices steadily. As of now, other details regarding the Xiaomi Mi 5 are limited.
Recalling the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 4, it sports a 5-inch full-HD display (1080x1920 pixels) with an inclusion of JDI OGS full lamination display. There is a 13-megapixel rear camera; an 8-megapixel front-facing camera; 3080mAh Li-ion battery; quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, and 3GB of RAM. Mi 4 smartphone went on sale in China starting July and the 3G-only 16GB White version was up for sale at CNY 1999 (roughly Rs. 19,400).
