Xiaomi's 2013 flagship smartphone, the Mi 3 is now receiving MIUI 6
update based on Android 4.4 KitKat in India. Xiaomi India, at the
Mi 4
launch event, had confirmed that the Mi 3 will receive the update
starting Wednesday.
The Chinese company also confirmed that the MIUI 6
update will be rolled out to all the Xiaomi smartphones that have been
sold in India. Apart from the Mi 3, the Redmi Note 4G will start
receiving the update next week, while both the Redmi 1S and Redmi Note
will get the update in early March.
The Xiaomi Mi 3 is getting the
update over-the-air (OTA) with build number MIUI V6.3.3.0.KXDMIBL and
about 550MB in size. With the latest MIUI 6 update, the Mi 3 will
receive a slew of features including optimisations for contacts
(contacts list loading speed in conversation mode); enhanced smoothness
of mail details page; reduced power consumption for POP3 and IMAP
accounts, and smoothness when switching pages.

Some of the other
highlights of the update include support for choosing text fonts,
colours, sizes and some other options when editing a mail, and now
swiping right will mark unread messages as read in the Messages app. For
emails, the update brings new features such as automatic save option
when typing text in quick reply box in mail; stop downloading all
attachments in one press, and when replying to all recipients of a mail
with attachments, it will ask if you want to include attachments of the
last mail when you try to add more recipients.
The MIUI 6 update
for the Mi 3 also brings some fixes for attached images that did not
show; synced mails that were deleted on PC; notifications for a mail
showing repeatedly in Notification mode; mail content sometimes not
showing after being opened from Notification shade, and a bug where
after changing password of exchange accounts, syncing mails on handset
did not prompt 'incorrect password.'
The company also made the Xiaomi Mi 3 available in its last chance sale earlier this week on Republic Day.
Xiaomi on Wednesday launched its 2014 flagship in India, the Mi 4, at Rs. 19,999 for the 16GB model.
