The Redmond giant on Wednesday announced that Windows 10 was available in 190 countries as a free upgrade for Windows 7/ 8/ 8.1 users and new PC and tablet users.
Microsoft had previously announced that the Windows 10 for desktop and tablets launch will be followed by other devices - smartphones, HoloLens, Xbox, and Surface devices - later this year. However, the company has been unable to confirm a launch time-frame for the new mobile operating system.
"Obviously, there's some duplication in engineering, sales and marketing, but it doesn't change our strategy around mobility. Windows 10 Mobile is coming and it's coming strong. Our core platform is Windows 10. It's mobile in nature, not just the device, but the experience people will have. So there's a big emphasis on the... mobile phone side of it. But there's more thunder on that coming later in the year," Doherty elaborated to iAfrica.com.

Considering that Windows 10 Mobile may make its debut in November, we can assume that the rumoured Lumia 950 (codenamed Talkman) and Lumia 950 XL (codenamed Cityman) will be launched alongside as the platform lead devices. The current time-frame may fall in line with a recent report that claimed Microsoft could launch the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL at an event in New York in late September or October - if the first devices get market availability by November.
A recent report claimed that the possible reason why Microsoft will have a separate event for its premium Lumia smartphones was to avoid a major event such as IFA where they can be outshined by other product launches. Some of the other Lumia smartphones rumoured to being tested include the Lumia 850 (codenamed Saana) and Lumia 650 (codenamed Saimaa).
