The Vivo V5 Plus selfie-focused smartphone was launched on Monday in India. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 27,980, and will go up for pre-orders from Tuesday - and become available to buy via both online and offline retailers from February 1.

The highlight of the Vivo V5 Plus is its dual front camera setup. It sports a 20-megapixel camera with the Sony IMX376 1/2.78-inch sensor, an f/2.0 aperture, and a 5P lens system, while it also sports a 8-megapixel camera that's meant to capture depth-of-field information. On the rear, Vivo V5 Plus bears a 16-megapixel sensor with LED flash. It bears a fingerprint scanner on the home button.

Vivo V5 Plus is a dual-SIM smartphone that runs the company's Funtouch OS 3.0, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Other V5 Plus key specifications include a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display, a 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and a 3055mAh battery - notably, the global variant unveiled last week sports a 3160mAh battery.

Vivo V5 Plus First Impressions

The Vivo V5 Plus features 64GB of inbuilt storage that's non-expandable. It offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS connectivity options. It measures 152.8x74.00x7.26 mm and weighs 158.6 grams.

To recall, the company had launched the Vivo V5 (Review) in India back in November. It was a selfie-focused smartphone as well, and came with a 20-megapixel front-facing camera that sports a 'Moonlight Glow' front camera light meant to improve low-light photography. It bears an f/2.0 aperture, a Sony IMX376 sensor, and a 5P lens. The smartphone also comes preloaded with the Face Beauty 6.0 app. It sports a metal unibody design, supports dual-SIM cards, and runs on Funtouch 2.6 OS that's based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Corrigendum: A previous version of this article stated the Vivo V5 Plus sports expandable storage via microSD card. The inbuilt storage on the smartphone is not expandable, and the article has been updated to reflect this fact. We regret the error.
