The new firmware upgrade, as Xperiablog notes, moves the device from current build number of 14.1.G.1.518 to build of 14.1.G.1.531. There are no big improvements or additions to the software, only regular bug or performance updates, notes the site. The 14.1.G.1.531 firmware update for the company's flagship smartphone, Sony Xperia Z1 is rolling out to HSPA+ devices with model number C6902. While there is no word on global rollout of the update, it is expected to reach other parts of the globe soon.
Meanwhile, Sony took the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1 at IFA, Berlin earlier this month. Recently, the device was launched in India at Rs. 44,990.
The Sony Xperia Z1 comes with 5-inch full-HD TRILUMINOS display powered by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. The highlight of the Xperia Z1 is the 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS sensor alongside BIONZ image processor engine and pulsed LED flash. It also includes a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Xperia Z1 is powered by 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 processor along with 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. The Sony Xperia Z1 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The device comes with 3000mAh battery and is waterproof (IPX5 and IPX8 certified) and dust-proof (IP5X certified) device.
Among other major software update announcements, the Japanese giant recently confirmed that a new Android 4.2 firmware update for the Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL, Sony Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z was on the way. Some bug fixes expected to be implemented with the update on the Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z were display, camera, battery fixes and performance tweaks, noted the tweet.
Not long ago, Sony rolled out a firmware update for its flagship Sony Xperia Z Ultra smartphone. The new update claimed to add a number of features; however it still kept the device on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
