Sony is expected to announce the new Xperia XA3, Xperia XA3 Ultra, and Xperia L3 smartphones at the CES trade fair next week. The company has revealed that it is hosting a press event on January 7 at the trade fair and while Sony has not officially stated what it plans to unveil, the launch of Xperia XA3, Xperia XA3 Ultra and Xperia L3 is quite likely. The company has traditionally used the CES events to showcase its entry-level and mid-range smartphones and it had also introduced the Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia L2 phones at the trade fair last year.
Sony Xperia XA3 and Xperia XA3 Ultra phones were first leaked back in October 2018 with a number of purported press renders and rumoured specifications. As per the leak, the phones will avoid the growing display notch trend, but will have thin bezels to provide bigger display real estate in a compact body. The Sony Xperia L3, on the other hand, was first revealed in late December via a certification in Russia. The phone recently popped up in US regulator FCC's database as well.
The Xperia XA3 and Xperia XA Ultra smartphones will reportedly run on Android 9 Pie out of the box and feature a side mounted fingerprint scanner and dual camera setup on the back. The Sony Xperia XA3 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. It will also include 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone will sport a 5.9-inch (1080x2160 pixels) screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia XA3 Ultra will feature a 6.5-inch (1080x2160 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Additionally, both Sony phones will include the connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band and Bluetooth 5.0.
The FCC listing of the Xperia L3 has divulged that the phone will come with the connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. It will also sport a USB Type-C port. A previous report had tipped it will come with a 5.7-inch HD+ (720x1440) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Gizmochina also reports the the Xperia L3 will sport 3,400mAh battery and Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. It will also reportedly pack a dual camera setup on the back with 13-megapixel primary sensor and 5-megapixel secondary sensor. There will be a side mounted fingerprint sensor as well.
Another rumoured Sony Xperia XA3-series model – Sony Xperia XA3 Plus – has also been in the news recently. The phone is said to be joining the Xperia XA3 and Xperia XA3 Ultra at the CES 2019 event but considering its predecessor Xperia XA2 Plus was introduced in July 2018, it seems unlikely that we will see an updated model so soon. The rumours did indicate that the Xperia XA3 Plus will carry a price-tag of EUR 519 (roughly Rs. 41,700) and come in Black, Gold, and Silver colour options.
To remind you, CES 2019 officially starts on January 8 and will end on January 11, however the related press events will start as early as January 6.
