Sony is trying hard to make a comeback in the smartphone space with its Xperia series of devices but the company knows that if it plans to compete with the Apple, Samsung and HTCs of the world then it would then it would need to continue to refresh its product portfolio. Little wonder that Sony has Sony Xperia SL up its sleeves.

This smartphone has been spotted on a Chinese website, ePrice, and appears to be a successor of Sony's flagship device Xperia S. From the leaks, it appears that Sony Xperia SL will have a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon and run on Android 4.0 and in all likely hood get Android Jelly Bean in due course of time. Sony Xperia S on its part comes with a 1.5GHz dual-core chip.

Other features that Sony Xperia SL might have are a 4.3-inch high definition screen and 12-megapixel camera. Sony is currently offering is Xperia S in two colour options - black and white but from the leaked images it appears that Xperia SL will offer more colour options such as silver, pink and even a purple.

Under the Xperia range, Sony is already offering Sony Xperia U, Xperia P, Xpera Sola and Xperia Neo L apart from Xperia S. Sony had recently also launched its rugged Xperia handset Sony Xperia go in the Indian market.

It's noteworthy, that only a weeks back, there were reports in regards to another leaked Sony flagship smartphone - Xperia mint LT30p, which too is expected to be available anytime now. Another device that is keeping the rumour buzz alive for Sony through various leaks and spotting is its upcoming Sony Xpera tablet. This tablet was last spotted on a German website along with a full bouquet of accessories and is expected to hit the stands soon.

Coming back to Sony Xperia SL, for now there's no word in regards to by when this smartphone will see the light of the day or what could be a possible price tag.
