Originally announced at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, the Sony Xperia Ion is now available in India and up for grabs from Snapdeal.com at Rs. 35,999.

The smartphone was initially showcased in black and white colour options. But in June, a new red Ion was revealed on Sony Mobile's official website. Indian users can opt for red and black variants from Snapdeal.

The Sony Xperia Ion is a PlayStation certified device and comes with NFC hardware as well. The smartphone sports a 4.6-inch scratch resistant TFT HD display. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm processor with 1GB RAM under the hood.

The device also features 16GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It also features a 12.1MP auto-focus camera. There's 1080p video support along with a 720p front facing camera for video chat.

The Ion houses a 1900mAh battery with stand-by time of up to 400hrs. Other features include FM Radio with RDS, multiple format support for audio and video, 3D and motion gaming and integration with Facebook and Twitter.
