An alleged new mid-range Sony smartphone running Android 5.0 Lollipop, dubbed Sony Cosmos, has been leaked in purported live images over Twitter.

On Saturday, tipster @Upleaks posted images of the as-yet-unannounced Sony Cosmos on Twitter. While the initial tweet by the tipster didn't suggest any specifications of the device, a further tweet noted that the Sony Cosmos will be powered by MediaTek processor and will run Android 5.0 Lollipop.

As yet there is nothing else known about the Sony Cosmos, but going by the purported images of the device, it appears to be a tad different from the present Sony Xperia smartphones. The alleged Sony handset is seen to have a big front-facing camera, small bezels, and three on-screen capacitive touch buttons.

Earlier this month at MWC 2015, the firm launched the water-resistant Sony Xperia M4 Aqua smartphone with 64-bit octa-core SoC. The handset is due to be released in the Spring in more than 80 countries and 100 carriers at a price tag of EUR 299 (roughly Rs. 20,600). The firm also launched its Xperia Z4 Tablet at the same event.

The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is the successor of the company's Xperia M2 Aqua, which was launched in August last year. Featuring nearly the same design profile as the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua, the Xperia M4 Aqua runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box. LTE and dual-SIM variants will be available in some markets.
