Sony Mobile Communications has announced another addition to its Xperia smartphone lineup in the form of Xperia sola today. Featuring the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, Xperia sola comes with SmartTags, which allow the consumer to instantly change the smartphone settings to a pre-defined set by simply touching them to the phone.

Set to arrive in the global markets next quarter, Sony Xperia sola will be the first phone to debut with floating touch technology. It lets consumers browse the web by hovering their finger above the screen so it acts like a moving curser, without actually having to touch the display.

In other features, Xperia sola will have a 3.7 inch Reality display, 1GHz dual core processor, Android 2.3. Company has promised an upgrade to Android 4.0 in summer this year.
