Indian startup Smartron has launched its first smartphone in the country, the t.phone. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 22,999, and will go on sale in early June via Gadgets 360 and the Smartron t.store, with registrations already open. The company had launched its laptop-tablet hybrid, the Smartron t.book (Review) in March.
The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM card) Smartron t.phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Super Amoled display with a 401ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The company is also touting the Apical Assertive Display technology for improved sunlight legibility.
The t.phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with an Isocell sensor and a dual-LED flash. The front camera is a 4-megapixel offering with 2-micron pixel size for better low-light performance. The smartphone bears 64GB of inbuilt storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) and unlimited t.cloud online storage.
The Smartron t.phone features a dual-tone metal body and is said to be the lightest smartphone it its category at 149 grams. It will be available in Classic Grey, Metallic Pink, Steel Blue, and Sunrise Orange. It is powered by a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support and a USB-Type C charger. It features the standard connectivity options, including 4G LTE support in India.

The company is also touting the 'tronx' UI of the Smartron t.phone, which will give users access to services from the Smartron, such as the t.cloud, t.store, and t.care.
