Samsung on Tuesday introduced a new accessory dubbed Power Sharing Cable that lets users charge any device that supports charging via Micro-USB, transferring charge from a select list of Galaxy devices.

Priced at $19.99 (roughly Rs. 1,220), the Samsung Power Sharing Cable enables users to transfer and charge other Micro-USB supporting devices from select devices, including Galaxy S5 (Review | Pictures), Galaxy Tab S 10.5, Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (Review | Picture), Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Avant, and Galaxy Note 4.

The users besides utilising the Power Sharing Cable would also have to download the dedicated Galaxy-only Power Sharing app from Google Play. Through the app, users can select the amount of power they want to transfer from their Galaxy device to the Micro-USB compatible device. After selecting the amount of power, the users can proceed to connect one end of the cable to their Galaxy device and the other end to the device which needs to be charged. Notably, Samsung says some Galaxy devices can transfer charge without requiring the app.

Created especially for the on-the-go users, the Samsung Power Sharing Cable is small and portable enough to carry in pockets. Also noted is that full amount of power from the Galaxy device cannot be transferred to other devices due to power loss or usage during the process.

Samsung back in March, unveiled a range of accessories designed especially for users with special abilities. The 'specialised usability accessories' were compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Core Advance smartphone.

The three Samsung specialised usability accessories announced - the Ultrasonic Cover, Optical Scan Stand and the Voice Label - supposedly complemented the Galaxy Core Advance's functionalities. The company might provide other such accessories compatible with other Android smartphones from its stables in future.
