Samsung has for some time been rumoured to be working on multiple variants of its next Galaxy S-series flagship. Four possible Samsung Galaxy S7 variants have been tipped thus far, the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Plus, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy S7 Edge+, all set to launch at an anticipated February 20 'Galaxy Unpacked 2016' event ahead of MWC 2016.

In a new leak, one of the most reliable phone tipsters, Evan Blass aka @evleaks contradicting his previous claim of three variants being launched simultaneously, suggested there will be only two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7 flagship to launch.

In a tweet Blass said, "And then there were two" accompanied by an image that had names of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. This would mean the Galaxy S7 Edge+ has either been done away with, or kept for a later date. The new claim from Blass also corroborates to a Zauba listing that surfaced last week. The anticipated Samsung smartphones were spotted on import and export tracking site Zauba with codenames SM-G930R4-5.1 and SM-G935R4.S-5.5, believed to be the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge respectively.

In a separate leak, a presentation slide claimed to be from Samsung has surfaced on the Internet tipping details about the innards of the Galaxy S7 flagship. According to PhoneArena, it received the presentation slide image from a Samsung employee. As per the leaked slide, the Galaxy S7 will feature a 5.1-inch QHD display, 12-megapixel rear camera; 4GB of RAM, and Snapdragon 820 processor, which is in-line with an earlier report. To be noted, is that the company is expected to launch the smartphones with the Exynos 8890 SoC in some regions.

Based on preliminary leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is said to feature a 5.1-inch QHD resolution display and powered by the Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset clubbed with 4GB RAM. The handset is likely to pack 64GB inbuilt storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
