Users can manually check for the update via Settings> About Phone> System Update. The new update comes with software build XXU1APD1 and is about 160MB in size. The update is currently rolling out in Nordic countries, though it can be expected to be made available in other regions in the coming weeks.
The update for the Galaxy S7 Edge brings fixes to the facing palm/ finger rejection issues that some early adopters of the handset reported last month. According to some user reports, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge handset's design and the curved display always led to some kind of unintended interaction of the palm with the screen. To prevent this from being a problem, the Galaxy S7 Edge has a palm rejection tool built-in to avoid the accidental triggering of any application or the screen. However, the palm-rejection tool didn't seem to work effectively for some users.
Users report (via Sammobile) that the firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge also brings a new feature for shape correction for skewed photos. After the update, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users can find a toggle in the camera options that is said to correct shapes in the images that appear distorted or skewed. The update notification for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge says it brings device stability improvements and bug fixes.
