Samsung has started seeding the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to its flagship models - the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.
The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge appears to be limited to South Korea for now with no information on its global roll out, reported Sammobile.
The Marshmallow update release follows the company's Galaxy Beta Program, which was introduced last year in December. By signing up for the programme, registered Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge users could install upcoming firmware updates to provide feedback to the company before it rolls out the final versions globally. With the release, the firm has leapfrogged the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its smartphones, and gone directly to the latest version.
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow brings several changes to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone interface. The status bar and quick toggles menus now appear in white background colour instead of blue, power menu has been redesigned, while some app icons have slightly changed as well. New themes based on colour palettes can also be downloaded for more customisation.
Besides the usual Android 6.0 Marshmallow features, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS version also includes new set of emojis with full support for Unicode 7.0 and 8.0.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in December last year reportedly started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, according to some users in Hungary. As per Samsung's leaked Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roadmap, which surfaced on the Web last month, the company was supposed to start pushing the latest build this month with its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones. It added the update to reach the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in January. The Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge are claimed to receive the update in February.
