Samsung has reportedly confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S5 launch will happen in February at around the Mobile World Congress event held in Barcelona, Spain (MWC 2014).

According to the Korean media (via Sammobile), Samsung Electronics Vice President of Design Team Dong-hoon Chang met with media at an event that was held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul on New Year's occasion. Chang apparently said the speculated MWC 2014 launch for the Samsung Galaxy S5 was about right.

Chang seemingly also confirmed that the company was using a new material for the Galaxy S5's construction, and said the possibility of a flexible display was 'under review'.

This somewhat confirms our previous report about the Samsung Galaxy S5 being expected to feature an aluminium unibody metal chassis.

Another previous report suggested the South Korean manufacturer plans to release two versions of the alleged Galaxy S5. As per the report, there would be two variants of the Galaxy S5: a premium variant sporting a metal chassis and a flexible OLED, and a variant which would come with the usual plastic body, as found on other Galaxy smartphones.

The alleged premium model can be named as Samsung Galaxy F and will sport a metal body. Also it's been reported that Samsung will not launch both the devices together. First the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be launched in 2014 with later following the alleged premium version Samsung Galaxy F.

In December 2013, a GFXBench listing had revealed a device codenamed Samsung SM-G900S sporting a screen resolution of 1440x2560 pixels (2K). The device was believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S5, which is expected to come with a 5.0- or 5.2-inch display, making the pixel density an incredible 560ppi at the said resolution.

So far, other rumoured specifications of the alleged Galaxy S5 include a 64-bit Exynos chipset or a Snapdragon chipset; 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera, a 4000mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UI on top
