Samsung seems to be in no mood to rest after the laurels earned by its premium smartphones, as the company is said to launch its much-anticipated Galaxy S5 next month.

Mobile Review's Eldar Murtazin claims that the South Korean plans to launch the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 at an event in Barcelona on February 23, ahead of MWC 2014. Murtazin also claims that the alleged Galaxy S5 will be available by the end of April and suggests that a new TouchWiz UI is in tow. The tweet said, "Samsung Galaxy S5 launch - 18.00. Barcelona. 23 February. Price the same. Launch - end of April. Specs - u know them :) new touchwiz ;)"

The tweet does not reveal any details about the innards of the expected Galaxy S5 but suggest that the specifications are 'known', pointing out to the previous reports.

However, contradicting the February 23 launch, a Samsung executive had earlier reportedly confirmed that there would be no flagship smartphone unveiling at the MWC. Further, the unnamed executive also claimed that the alleged Galaxy S5 could be expected to be launched in March at a New York event.

Rumoured specifications of the Galaxy S5 include a 2K display, boasting a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels (QHD); a 2900mAh battery, and an eye-scanning sensor. Notably, a device codenamed Samsung SM-G900S, and sporting a screen resolution of 1440x2560 pixels (2K) was leaked in December last year. The device was believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S5, and was said to feature a 5-inch or 5.2-inch display, making the pixel density an incredible 560ppi at that resolution.

Further, the alleged device is said to sport a 20-megapixel rear camera with 4K video record support, opposing previous reports that claimed a 16-megapixel camera on the device.

Other rumoured specifications of the Galaxy S5 include a Exynos 6 (believed to be the successor of the Exynos 5 octa-core chipsets) or Snapdragon 805 processors; Android 4.4 KitKat and Super AMOLED display.

In addition, Sammy Today in a recent report has revealed that United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) have granted Samsung a new design patent. According to the site, the new design patent shows a Samsung smartphone with no buttons on the front panel.

It's worth pointing out that a report on Tuesday claimed that the South Korean manufacturer has been considering equipping its 2014 flagship with the fingerprint sensor feature below the display. Further, the report suggested that users would be required to scan their fingerprints on the screen.

We have been hearing a lot of rumours about the alleged Galaxy S5 smartphone, however, we are yet to hear an official word from the company.
