The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 is being pushed out over-the-air (OTA) and a notification should pop up when the update becomes available. Users can also manually check for the update by going to Settings > About phone > Software update on the Galaxy S5.
The update is about 875MB in size, according to Sammy Hub. Samsung initially started pushing out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Galaxy S5 handset in Europe, starting with Poland. The version number of Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S5 was reported to be G900FXXU1BNL2 with an Android LRX21P build.
Based on a number of video previews that surfaced on the Internet showing the Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 Lollipop, the handset was seen with better touch response. New Android 5.0 Lollipop-styled toggle buttons, calendar, dialler app, and a new interactive notification tray were also seen on the handset. A number of apps in the Galaxy S5 featuring the new Material Design introduced in the OS were also spotted in screenshots showing the handset running Android 5.0 Lollipop.
A report from February suggested that the Galaxy S5's mini variant - the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini - will also get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the second quarter of 2015.
On Monday, Samsung India will launch the new flagship Galaxy S6 alongside the Galaxy S6 Edge. We already know that the South Korean giant will start sales of the two new smartphones on April 10.
