Phonearena has obtained three alleged images of the yet-to-be-launched Galaxy S5 Prime that reveal the front and rear panel designs of the device. As per the alleged Galaxy S5 Prime images, the smartphone appears to sport a similar design to the Galaxy S5, though it has a aluminium chassis instead of the chrome plastic frame, in-line with earlier reports.
Further, the alleged Galaxy S5 Prime images show the loudspeaker shifted to the bottom panel, rather than on the rear as seen on the Galaxy S5 (Review | Pictures). The lock screen visible on the display seems to confirm that the alleged Galaxy S5 Premium variant will come with a fingerprint scanner, with the swiping cube seen at the bottom. Earlier rumours had indicated that the alleged Galaxy S5 Prime would be launched in mid-June.
Highlight features of the alleged Galaxy S5 Prime include a Quad HD display and the rear camera is said to sport OIS (optical image stabilisation), a feature that is missing in the Galaxy S5.
Other rumoured specifications of the alleged Galaxy S5 Prime include a quad-core Snapdragon 805 chipset; Adreno 420 GPU; 3GB of RAM, and Android 4.4.3.
Samsung is also expected to be making a rugged-variant of its flagship smartphone, thought to be called the Galaxy S5 Active. The alleged specifications of the Galaxy S5 Active (also said to have model numbers SM-G870A and SM-G860 for different variants) include a similar 5.1-inch full-HD display as the Samsung Galaxy S5, along with LTE and NFC connectivity, apart from a 2800mAh battery.
