The current flagship in Samsung's Galaxy Note series, the Galaxy Note 8 was launched in late August last year. With the segment due for an upgrade in the next couple of months, rumours and leaks of the upcoming Galaxy Note 9 are all over the Internet. A lot of them point towards an earlier launch date, allegedly August 9. To reaffirm this development, the upcoming phablet has now been spotted on FCC with ID A3LSMN960F, almost a month before the Galaxy Note 8 was spotted last year.

Notably, the Galaxy Note 8's FCC ID was A3LSMN950U, where the U signifies the US variant of the smartphone. Last year, FCC authorisation letter for the predecessor Galaxy Note 8 was signed on June 2, 2017, while this year's variant had its letter signed on April 26, 2018. This could suggest an even earlier launch date than the previously rumoured August 9.

To recap, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is rumoured to sport a 6.4-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845/ Samsung Exynos 9810 SoC, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of inbuilt storage. As per design renders and panel leaks, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to borrow most design elements from its predecessor with slightly smaller bezels.

The smartphone design is rumoured to get an interesting addition, another physical button. The button might be used as a shutter to click photos, record videos, take a screenshot, or record screen footage. The Galaxy Note series already has an additional button to trigger Samsung's digital assistant, Bixby.
