Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was launched last week at the Unpacked event in New York. The smartphone comes with a big battery, a large display, and an improved S Pen, among few other things. Now, DisplayMate has done a full breakdown of the Galaxy Note 9's display screen, and results indicate it is the best in the market currently. The Galaxy Note 9 was praised for its brightness, colour accuracy, and viewing angles as well. The smartphone is already up for pre-orders in India.

DisplayMate ran a series of tests on the Galaxy Note 9 to ascertain its performance in many departments. This includes display specifications, colour accuracy, display power, brightness and contrast, screen reflections, OLED spectra, colours and intensities, and overall assessments. After all the tests, DisplayMate concludes that Galaxy Note 9 "has an impressive display that establishes many new display performance records, earning DisplayMate's Best Performing Smartphone Display Award, and receiving our highest ever A+ grade."

Big highlights from the tests include that the Galaxy Note 9's brightness is 27 percent times more than the Galaxy Note 8, and 32 percent higher contrast (at peak brightness level). It sports full screen peak display brightness of 710 nits. It sets a record for absolute colour accuracy 0.5 JNCD, which is considerably better than existing smartphones, UHD TVs, tablets, laptops, and computer monitors currently available in the market. The Galaxy Note 9 sports a full 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut and digital cinema mode that is also used for 4K Ultra HD TVs, so the Galaxy Note 9 can display the latest high-end 4K video content. The DCI-P3 Gamut is 26 percent larger than the Rec.709 Gamut that is used in 2K Full HD TVs. The smartphone is equipped with a video enhancer that provides HDR-like Expanded Dynamic Range for all videos that don't have HDR coding. The Galaxy Note 9 also sports a night mode with blue light filter that allows the user to adjust and reduce the amount of blue light from the display for better night viewing and improved sleep. It comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, vision accessibility display modes to help with vision impairments, and can be used with polarised sunglasses in both the Portrait and Landscape orientations unlike LCDs, which generally work in only one of the two orientations.

DisplayMate concludes, "Galaxy Note9 is the most innovative and high performance Smartphone display that we have ever Lab tested, breaking and establishing many new Display Performance Records that are listed above. The Galaxy Note9 delivers uniformly consistent all around Top Tier Display Performance and receives All Green (Very Good to Excellent) Ratings in All of the DisplayMate Lab Test and Measurement Categories - only the second display we have ever tested to get All Green in All Categories - the Galaxy S9 was the first. The level of display performance and excellence has been increasing each year, and the Galaxy Note9 has now raised the bar significantly higher." You can read the full report here.
