Samsung announced a worldwide halt on the production of Galaxy Note 7 smartphone on Tuesday after the replacement units of the device were reported to catch fire in several cases. The company has reportedly also started sending out thermally-insulated return kits with safety instructions to those consumers who directly contacted the company for the return of the device last week itself.

As per a report by XDA developers, the South Korean company is sending out return kits for Galaxy Note 7 with thermally-insulated box. The kits also include safety gloves as "some individuals might be sensitive to the ceramic fibre paper lining the Recovery Box," the company says in its instructions.

Further, the company has ensured that these return kits for Galaxy Note 7 will only be transported through ground and not through air. There have been several cases in past where the smartphone reportedly caught fire on flights and as a result some of the delivery services reportedly denied shipping the recalled units back to the company.

A report by 9to5Google says that the replacement kits started arriving for the consumers since last Tuesday itself.

On Tuesday, the company issued a statement saying that it is halting the production of the Galaxy Note 7 worldwide due to safety concerns. It further advised its consumers to "power down and stop using the device (including replacements)" immediately.

This can be seen as a welcome step by the company that has suffered a great amount of damage to its brand due the global recall of Galaxy Note 7. It at least seems like the company has finally started taking the safety of its consumers seriously.
