Samsung is expected to unveil its next Note iteration in early August. But before that happens, a teaser of the upcoming Note phablet has been leaked giving us some interesting details.

The teaser (via PhoneArena) hints that Samsung is indeed skipping a numeral, and intends to call the next phablet the Galaxy Note 7. This is in line with previous rumours that suggest Samsung plans to match its numbering for the Note series with its flagship Galaxy S series - Galaxy S7. It believes that if it sticks to the traditional order, the consumers will get confused and consider the new Note series to be of last year. Also, keeping in mind that Apple is set to release the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September, Samsung does not want to leave room for any confusion, and may just skip a number, and be called the Galaxy Note 7 this year.

Furthermore, the teaser has the words 'write on the edge of something great'. This further testifies that the Edge variant sees a comeback with the Galaxy Note 6/7. Samsung had skipped the Edge variant with the Galaxy Note 5 last year, but is expected to be reintroduced this year. The teaser also shows off the S Pen, an accessory synonymous with the Note series.

So far, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6/7 is expected to feature an iris scanner, a fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C port. The leaked specs include a 5.8-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with 10nm 6GB of RAM module, 32GB inbuilt storage with expandability via microSD card, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and a Dual Pixel setup in the front. As mentioned above, the phablet is set for an early August release to fend off iPhone competition.
