The USB Type-C interface is no doubt going mainstream as more manufacturers are opting for it. We already saw Letv, a Chinese video streaming company, launching three smartphones featuring USB Type-C ports, which were said to be the first in the world to come with the new ports. Google at I/O 2015 also announced that Android M will support USB Type-C ports. Now, a Korean website claims that Samsung's Galaxy Note 5, successor to the Galaxy Note 4, will feature a USB 3.1 Type-C port.

With the reversible design of USB Type-C, users will never have to worry about which way their cable is facing, and the standard allows for transfer of power, video, and audio in both directions. Users can also charge their devices faster, depending on the implementation by the OEM.

If the report about Samsung's inclusion of a USB 3.1 Type-C port in its next Note phablet comes out to be true, the smartphone will be able to transfer files with up to 10Gbps speeds while also featuring updated Power Delivery spec which will allow the device to negotiate for up to 100W of power.

The website claims citing industry insiders and several Samsung employees that the next Note phablet will not feature a 4K display, as rumoured in previous reports. The phablet is also said to include UFS 2.0 Flash memory, which was seen on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

The Korean website also tips that the screen size will be bumped from 5.7-inch (on the Galaxy Note 4) to 5.89-inch on the new Note phablet. The Galaxy Note 5 is rumoured to measure just 7.9mm thick, compared to Galaxy Note 4's 8.5mm.

One of the major upgrades expected in the Galaxy Note 5 is said to be in battery department, the handset is said to feature a 4100mAh battery. The Galaxy Note 4 packs a 3220mAh battery. For processor, the Korean website speculates that the Galaxy Note 5 might feature an upgraded version of the Exynos 7420 (powering the Galaxy S6) called Exynos 7422.

Last month, Samsung Electronics President and CEO J.K. Shin rubbished reports that claimed the Galaxy Note 5 would arrive as early as July.
