It seems that the update for the device is finally out now and Galaxy Grand Duos users in India can update their device to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Fonearena first reported about the rollout of the update for the Galaxy Grand Duos. The device can be updated via over-the-air (OTA) and also via Samsung's PC companion app, Kies. The update for the Galaxy Grand is about 490MB and brings an improved version of TouchWiz UI as well, notes the site.
The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update will bring new features like dedicated toggles menu in the status bar, Daydream screensaver mode, lock screen widgets, improved task switching and some performance enhancements. The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos is expected to get some new goodies on the TouchWiz side from the flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4, like the new widgets and home screen.
Samsung has not officially announced plans for releasing software updates for other Galaxy devices, yet.
Launched in the start of 2013, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos (Review) natively ran Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).
It features a 5-inch display with a WVGA TFT (480x800 pixel) display. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor alongside 1GB of RAM. It includes 8GB of inbuilt storage with additional expansion support up to 64GB. The Galaxy Grand Duos sports an 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
