Samsung Galaxy Core Plus with dual-core processor, Android 4.2 launched
Samsung has quietly introduced the Galaxy Core Plus smartphone, the successor to the Galaxy Core in Taiwan. The South Korean manufacturer listed the new Galaxy Core Plus on Samsung's Taiwan site.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Plus has been priced at 7,990 Taiwan Dollars, which translates roughly to Rs. 17,050 for the off-contract model. There is no official word from Samsung about the availability of Galaxy Core Plus for other markets.

Surprisingly, the Galaxy Core Plus comes with some disappointing specifications when compared to its predecessor, which is a change from the upgraded specification paradigm that's almost set for handsets by OEMs.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Plus runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top, when compared to Android 4.1 on Galaxy Core. Much like its predecessor, the Galaxy Core Plus is a dual-SIM device with support for GSM+GSM. It features a 4.3-inch TFT display with 480x800 pixels resolution. Powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (unspecified chipset), the Galaxy Core Plus has 768MB of RAM (compared to 1GB on the Galaxy Core). It sports a 5-megapixel rear autofocus camera with a LED flash and a VGA front facing camera.

The Galaxy Core Plus offers 4GB of inbuilt storage (compared to the 8GB on the Galaxy Core) which can be expanded up to 64GB with a microSD card. It also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS connectivity options. The phone comes with an 1800mAh battery.

Samsung, on the Galaxy Core Plus, also ships few smart features borrowed from some Galaxy high-end siblings including Smart Stay, Smart Alert, Motion UI, and Samsung's own voice assistant, S Voice. The Galaxy Core Plus comes with 129.7x65.9x9.4mm dimensions and weighs 134 grams.

Earlier, Samsung launched the Galaxy Core mid-range Android smartphone for the Indian market in May this year.
