The South Korean company made the announcement via a tweet though it did not announce when the Silver colour variant of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will start shipping in India.
The metal frame sporting Samsung Galaxy Alpha (Review | Pictures) went on sale in India in the first week of October at Rs. 39,990 and has been available in three colour variants - Frosted Gold, Charcoal Black, and Dazzling White. Currently, the Galaxy Alpha is retailing at Rs. 38,990 at the company's official online store and is available in three colour variants.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha runs the Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. It features a 4.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display. The handset sports dimensions of 132.4x65.5x6.7mm and weighs 115 grams. The Galaxy Alpha is powered by an octa-core chipset (quad-core 1.8GHz plus quad-core 1.3GHz) and there is 2GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, which is non-expandable.
The Galaxy Alpha sports a 12-megapixel rear camera and also includes 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. It packs an 1860mAh battery. Connectivity options include Micro-USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, 4G/ LTE, and NFC. At launch, Samsung had said that the Galaxy Alpha is compatible with 4G/ LTE bands in India. The Galaxy Alpha also comes with fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor.
Earlier this month, Samsung's Tizen-based Gear S smartwatch went on sale in India priced at Rs. 27,900.
The Samsung Gear S allows users to make and receive calls via 2G or 3G, and also offers Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi connectivity. It has a separate slot for a SIM card on the back panel along with the heart rate sensor.
