The long rumoured successors of the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 smartphones have this time halted at the US FCC and have revealed some more details. The unannounced Galaxy A9 has also been spotted on Geekbench benchmarks giving partial information about its innards.

Not much can be derived from the US FCC documents (via Timesnews UK) but it does show us the battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy A5 successor to be 2900mAh. The shown battery capacity is significantly higher than the 2300mAh model. Also revealed is the inclusion of usual connectivity options such as Bluetooth, NFC, and Single-band LTE. The documents for Galaxy A3 (2016) did not reveal much about its specifications but showed similar connectivity options. The documents also mention two models - SM-A310F/DS and SM-A310F, in which we think DS stands for dual-SIM version.

As for the Galaxy A9, the smartphone purportedly went through Geekbench benchmarks with model number SM-A9000. As per the benchmark listing (via GSMArena), the smartphone runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 SoC (MSM8976) with four Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. The results show the handset's single core score as 1446 and multi-core score as 4134. The smartphone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and includes 3GB RAM. There is no information as to when Samsung plans to launch the handsets.

Earlier this month both Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 successors got leaked in images. If the images are to be believed, the new Galaxy A-series handsets (especially Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7) will carry forward the metal body design from the previous generation.

Based on preliminary leaks, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) will feature a 4.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display and will be powered by an Exynos 7580 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. Other specifications include 16GB inbuilt storage; a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera.

The Galaxy A5 (2016), on the other hand, was separately leaked to run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and feature a 5.2-inch full-HD display. It is said to come with an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, clubbed with ARM Mali-T720 and 2GB RAM. Other innards include 16GB of inbuilt storage; a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 4.7-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) was said to run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and feature a 5.2-inch full-HD display. Other specifications included an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7 processor clocked at 1.6GHz; ARM Mali-T720; 2GB of RAM; 16GB of inbuilt storage; 12-megapixel rear camera, and 4.7-megapixel front-facing camera.
