It is known that Xiaomi has been working on a flagship smartphone that will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun himself had commented on his Weibo channel stating that the Redmi smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC. We have seen multiple reports, and rumours in the past which have revealed design details of this upcoming smartphones. Now a fresh video leak has surfaced, claiming that the smartphone featured in the video is the Redmi flagship.
This upcoming Redmi flagship has been in the news for quite some time now. Right after CEO Lei Jun confirmed that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855-powered flagship is in the works, Redmi Chief Lu Weibing put a post referring to the device as the “855 Flagship”.
While a leak claiming to be a Redmi phone did appear revealing a pop-up selfie camera as well as a triple camera setup at the back. It was soon refuted by GM Lu Weibing in a Weibo post. The upcoming flagship referred to as the “855 Flagship” is rumoured to debut as the Redmi Pro 2.
A recently surfaced video leak, first spotted by SlashLeaks, claims that the phone featured in it is the Redmi Pro 2. The alleged Redmi Pro 2 has a hole punch display in the middle of the upper part of the display. The smartphone has thin bezels on the sides but the bottom chin is comparatively thicker. The display size is unknown at the moment but Gizmochina estimates it to be in the 6 to 6.3-inch range.
At the back, it has a triple camera setup similar to the one seen on the Mi 9 and has an LED flash below the camera module. A physical fingerprint scanner is also visible on the back of the phone. We don't have any more information about the smartphone at the moment and it is hard to confirm if this truly is the Redmi Pro 2. We urge readers to take the latest leak with a generous pinch of salt, especially considering the numerous leaks that were refuted by the company.
