Redmi Note 4, one of the biggest hits for Xiaomi last year, has been given another price cut by the company. However, the new price cut is only applicable on the Redmi Note 4 (Review) variant with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM, and not the one with 32GB storage and 3GB RAM. This is the second price cut for the smartphone, and brings down the Redmi Note 4 price in India to Rs. 10,999 from Rs. 11,999. The new price is applicable on Mi.com, Amazon India, and Flipkart only, and not in offline stores.

To recall, the Redmi Note 4 was launched in January last year, and came in three variants: 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. These were priced at Rs. 9,999, Rs. 10,999, and Rs. 12,999, respectively. The 2GB variant was phased out a few months after the launch of the Redmi 4 model, and Xiaomi in November slashed the prices of the 3GB and 4GB RAM variants to Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 11,999, respectively.

Over the past year, Redmi Note 4 played an important role in helping Xiaomi becoming the biggest smartphone vendor in India by volume. In the first sale, 250,000 units were sold out in 10 minutes, and 1 million units in less than 45 days, which Xiaomi claimed is the fastest for any smartphone in India. This was followed up by the claim that 5 million units were sold in six months of its release in the country. The company also said in September that Redmi Note 4 was the highest selling smartphone in the Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale.

However, the popular Xiaomi handset feels dated for an affordable handset as several capable smartphones have been released since it hit the market over a year ago. The Chinese brand is expected to launch a successor to the Redmi Note 4 soon, with a full-screen design, larger display, and MIUI 9, among other features.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 sports a metal unibody design and bears a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. It packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 octa-core SoC, coupled with the Adreno 506 GPU. The dual-SIM (Micro+Nano) Xiaomi handset now runs MIUI 9 software, and sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920pixels) 2.5D curved glass IPS display. The handset's rear camera bears a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor equipped with PDAF (phase detection autofocus), an f/2.0 aperture, 77-degree wide angle lens, and dual-tone LED flash. The front camera sports a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, coupled with an 85-degree wide angle lens.

Expandable storage is available on the Redmi Note 4 via a hybrid dual-SIM card configuration, supporting microSD cards (up 128GB). As for connectivity, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 offers 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/b/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, Micro-USB, and Infrared. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, electronic compass, and proximity sensor. Its battery capacity is rated at 4100mAh battery, and it measures 151x76x8.35mm, and weighs 175 grams.
