Xiaomi has unveiled the new logo of 'Redmi by Xiaomi' just hours ahead of the launch, and a new video featuring Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has also been posted online, giving us a full look at the upcoming Redmi Note 7 smartphone. A photo posted by Jun shows the logo and the back of the phone, and even Xiaomi President Lin Bin shared the logo image on his social page. There's also a video leaked online that shows Lei Jun boasting of the smartphone's durability and giving a sly hint about its waterproofing capabilities. The video touts the phone ice to be called the Redmi Note 7, and it shows the phone from the front and back.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun and President Lin Bin both have shared the official logo of the new sub-brand 'Redmi by Xiaomi' on their respective Weibo pages. The new Redmi logo is rather minimalistic, with white coloured letters behind a colourful background, and the words 'Redmi by Xiaomi' clearly visible. The background is different in the two logos shared by Jun and Bin. Bin's version has a gradient pink and purple finish, while Jun's photo shows a blue gradient background, matching the phone in the frame. The phone is seen sporting a dual rear camera setup stacked vertically, a rear fingerprint sensor, and a 'Redmi by Xiaomi' logo at the bottom end.
There's a video that the Redmi Weibo page posted, just hours before the launch, and it shows Jun talking about the phone. Jun says that the device is being internally called 'King Kong', and a sly joke about its water resistance capabilities is made. This hints that the upcoming Redmi Note 7 phone will be water resistant, a feature that Xiaomi fans have been asking for since a while now. The video shows the device from the front and back, and while the back is identical to the photo shared by Jun, the front is seen sporting a waterdrop-shaped notch, matching the TENAA listing spotted earlier.
All of the recent leaks point towards the launch of the Redmi Note 7 device today. However, the company is expected to launch more than one Redmi device at the China event, and even the Redmi 7 is expected to be unveiled. The Redmi Note 7 was spotted on GeekBench earlier, and it is tipped to come with Android Pie, 6GB RAM, and Snapdragon 660 SoC. It is expected to arrive in Blue, Black, and Pink colour options as well. The event is scheduled to start at 2pm local time (11.30am IST).
