Xiaomi Redmi 5A Rose Gold colour option is debuting in India. The new colour variant comes more than a month after the availability of the Dark Grey and Gold colour options of the Redmi 5A that was launched in last November with a starting price of Rs. 5,999. The new Redmi 5A Rose Gold model will be made available for the first time at 12pm IST (noon) on Thursday, February 1 via Mi.com and Flipkart. It certainly makes sense for Xiaomi to launch the new colour variant of the Redmi 5A ahead of Valentine's Day to persuade more buyers. Notably, the company already has the Mi A1 in the same Rose Gold colour option to cater the demand in the sub-Rs. 15,000 price bracket.
Through a tweet on Wednesday, Xiaomi India teased the launch of the Redmi 5A. The tweet reads, "I'm beautiful. I'm powerful. I'm everyone's choice. Guess who am I? Watch this space tomorrow." The company has confirmed to Gadgets 360 that the smartphone will go on sale through both Mi.com and Flipkart from 12pm on Thursday, and the smartphone's new colour variant has already been listed on Flipkart in both 2GB and 3GB RAM versions at Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 6,999, respectively. We've reached out to Xiaomi for confirmation on when the new Rose Gold colour variant of the Redmi 5A will be made available via offline channels, including Mi Home stores and Big Bazaar.
Except for the new Rose Gold paint job, the new variant has specifications identical to the original Redmi 5A. The dual-SIM (Nano) Xiaomi Redmi 5A runs Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 and features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display. The handset is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC that is clocked at 1.4GHz, coupled with 2GB and 3GB of RAM. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, and PDAF. Plus, a 5-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens is available on the front.
The Redmi 5A has 16GB and 32GB onboard storage options that both are expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) via a dedicated card slot. In terms of connectivity, there is 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v.4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Infrared, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor. The smartphone packs a 3000mAh battery, which is claimed to deliver up to eight days of standby time and seven hours of video playback on a single charge. It measures 140.4x70.1x8.35mm and weighs 137 grams.
