After rolling out the stable ColorOS 5.2 OTA update for the Realme 1, the company has started rolling out the update for Realme 2 and Realme C1 users. The company had stated that the Realme 1 and Realme 2 will get the update in December itself, while the Realme C1 will get it later. However, the company has now decided to release the update for both phones simultaneously. The Realme 2 Pro is also receiving a stable update bringing battery optimisation settings and the December security patch.
On the company's official forum, Realme has confirmed that the ColorOS 5.2 update is rolling out now for the Realme 2 and Realme C1 users. The update is also available for download from the company forum, and Realme has also provided detailed the instructions on how to install OTA package. You can find the guide here. Realme says that the over-the-air (OTA) update is a staged rollout, with a select number of users getting it first. And if no critical bugs are reported, then a wider rollout will commence. All users are expected to get the update within the first weeks of January.
The software update carries the build number RMX1805EX_11.A.21, and the changelog suggests that the update brings the ability to swipe from left to right to dismiss a notification and a new headset icon in status bar for when the headset is plugged in. A new Smart Bar also arrives with the update, which allows you to launch favourite apps from the home screen. A new reboot function has been added as well and you can swipe up to reboot in the shutdown interface. The update also optimises reminders when developer options, accessibility mode, and device manger are opened. It has improved the frequency for touch screen and long pressing the power button will now launch Google Assistant. Additionally, this update brings the December security patch.
The Realme 2 Pro has also got a ColorOS 5.2 stable update version RMX1801EX_11.A.13 and the rollout is staged for the phone as well. Manual download links have been published on the forum for users to download. The changelog suggests that the Realme 2 Pro update brings a new Screen Battery Optimization mode that dynamically adjusts the screen contrast and brightness for a balanced image quality with lower power consumption - except in Camera and Gallery apps. The company claims that the new Balance mode option increases overall battery endurance by approximately 5 percent, and Strong Mode increases it by approximately 10 percent. A new slow-motion mode has been added in the camera app, and the UI is redesigned to sport Material Design icons. The update also brings the December security patch, the new reboot function, and optimised reminders when developer options, accessibility mode, and device manger are opened.
In the new year, Realme will focus on bringing Android Pie-based ColorOS update to its portfolio. The Realme India support handle has already confirmed the arrival of Android Pie for the Realme 1 and Realme 2 smartphones, and this presumably also means that the recently launched Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1 will also receive the update.
