Razer has launched its latest flagship - Razer Phone 2 - to establish its authority in the new gaming smartphone market. The gaming brand has introduced the second generation handset as a successor to Razer Phone that was launched last year. The Razer Phone 2 brings a number of minor upgrades over its predecessor, the most notable one being wireless charging support. Other key features in the smartphone include Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB RAM, QuickCharge 4.0+ support, 4,000mAh battery, and more.
Razer is touting the presence of dual cameras with image stabilisation in the smartphone. The company is claiming a new design with the Razer Phone 2 that comes with a glass back, equipped with wireless charging, Razer Chroma RGB logo, and IP67 water resistance rating. For audio, the smartphone houses dual front-facing stereo speakers that feature Dolby Atmos and a 24-bit USB Type-C DAC. The logo on the back of Razer Phone 2 is RGB backlit and supports Razer Chroma. Like its predecessor, is equipped with a true 120Hz display.
The Razer Phone 2 has been priced at $799.99 (roughly Rs. 59,500) in the US. Pre-orders start today (October 11) at 12:01am PST (12:31pm IST), with shipping dates yet to be announced. Notably, the Razer Phone 2 comes in two variants. There is a 64GB storage model that has a "classy mirror back" and a 128GB storage variant with "rugged satin finish". However, the 128GB storage model will be released at a later date.
The single-SIM Razer Phone 2 runs Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone sports a 5.72-inch IGZO LCD display with QHD (1440x2560 pixels) resolution. It is a 120Hz UltraMotion display that promises "a brighter screen with zero lag or stuttering" and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC clocked up to 2.8GHz, coupled with Adreno 630 GPU and Vapor Chamber Cooling. Additionally, the phone comes with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
In terms of optics, the Razer Phone 2 features a dual camera setup at the back. It has a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/1.75 aperture and optical image optimisation (OIS) and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. It comes with dual PDAF (Phase detection Autofocus), dual tone, dual-LED flash, and supports videos of up to 4K resolution. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The Razer Phone 2 comes with 64GB and 128GB inbuilt storage options, both of which are expandable via microSD slot (up to 1TB). Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and more. The smartphone is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery with Qualcomm QuickCharge 4.0+ support and Wireless Charging support. In terms of dimensions, the handset measures 158.5x78.99x8.5mm. It comes with an IP67 rating for water resistance up to 1 metre. Other features include dual front-firing stereo speakers with dual amplifiers, Dolby Atmos technology, and 24-bit DAC audio adapter.
