One set of images was posted on popular modding forum XDA, but was taken down later, the second set appeared in a device listing for sale on a Belarusian forum. The XDA leak shows the LG Nexus smartphone in some kind of a case, while the other images show the device in the clear.

There is no way to authenticate any of these images; we can only speculate that at least one of these is the real deal.

These images also show the device codename mako, which is in line with Nexus device code-names will now, which are based on fish names and mako is a type of shark.

A look at the previous code names:

  • G1 - trout
  • Nexus One - mahimahi
  • Nexus S - herring
  • Xoom - stingray
  • Galaxy Nexus family - tuna

One of the leaked images from XDA forum also shows the device running on Android 4.1.2, suggesting that the device might be running on an old version. However, most of the rumours until now have indicated towards Android 4.2 as the final OS on the next Nexus smartphone.

The leaked device carries the code name E960 that was also spotted in a FCC filing of the rumoured LG Nexus phone.

To remind you, the LG Nexus smartphone is expected to come with 4.7-inch 720p display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 8/13MP rear camera and 2GB RAM.
