The Sang Fei-owned Philips Mobiles at the event showcased the 6-inch octa-core I928 smartphone without revealing its pricing and availability details. The Philips I928 was said to have an expected launch date of next month, alongside another budget smartphone - the S388.
The Philips I928 is likely to come with some freebies such as a flip cover, much like the LG G3's QuickCircle cases and more as noted by SS Bassi, Country Manager - India at Sang Fei. The other Philips S388 smartphone is likely to be an updated version of the S308 launched on Wednesday.
Detailed by the company at the event, the Philips I928 is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) device with dual standby support. As of now, there is no word on the Android version and that is a detail we will wait for until the handset's launch. It comes with a 6-inch (1080x1920 pixels) full-HD IPS display and sports 2.5D curved glass.
The Philips I928 is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The company has not revealed the chipset but we expect that a MediaTek (MTK6592) chipset might be backing the device. It includes 2GB of RAM and comes with 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
The I928 sports a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, while there is a secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. Connectivity options on the device include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, EDGE/ GPRS and 3G network support.
