Chinese handset maker Oppo on Thursday unveiled its latest selfie-focused smartphone, the Oppo F5, which is also the successor to the Oppo F3. The new Oppo smartphone, much like previous handsets, focuses on selfies and comes with artificial intelligence (AI) beauty technology integrated in the front camera. Following the current trend of smartphones, the all-new Oppo F5 also sports an all-screen front with slim bezels around the display. It is set to launch in India on November 2.
The Oppo F5 is now up for pre-orders in Philippines and comes in two RAM and storage variants. The 4GB RAM and 32GB storage Oppo F5 has been priced at PHP 15,990 (roughly Rs. 20,000) and comes in Gold and Black colours. Another 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant has been announced in Red colour though the pricing has not been announced so far. We can expect it to be revealed next week when the handset goes on sale in Philippines.
As we mentioned, the Oppo F5 has already been confirmed to launch in India next month and we can expect the pricing to remain around the Philippines price tag.
One of the biggest highlights being marketed heavily by the company is the AI-enabled beauty technology that comes integrated in the front camera. The company says, "With more than 200 positioning spots, the F5 accentuates your facial landmarks and contours to enhance the symmetry between features like your eyes, nose, cheekbones and jawline to create the perfectly refined and natural selfie. Its beauty-iris tool ensures that your eyes will shine brighter in any photo." The front camera is claimed to recognise if there's a background light or can add luminance to portraits for improved selfies. The front camera is also capable of clicking shots with a Bokeh effect.
Starting with front camera, Oppo F5 sports a 20-megapixel sensor at the front which comes with f/2.0 aperture. At the back is a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash. The Oppo F5 features a 6-inch TFT display with full-HD+ screen resolution of 1080x2160 pixels. The handset supports dual Nano-SIM cards and packs a separate microSD card slot. The Oppo F5 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek (MT6763T) processor coupled with 4GB/ 6GB RAM. It supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 256GB). The handset runs on the company's ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. It measures 156.5x76x7.5mm and weighs in at 152 grams. It is backed by a 3200mAh battery. Connectivity options include GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and USB OTG support.
