OnePlus on Tuesday provided deadlines for the rollout of the promised Lollipop updates for its One smartphone, promising a CM12S-based build along with the first stable build of the firm's own OxygenOS before the end of the month.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer says theLollipop-based Cyanogen OS build will be released on or before March 30 as an OTA update, while the OxygenOS build will be released on or before March 27 as a ROM download.

To prove its commitment, OnePlus says it is prepared to "put our money where our mouth is", and will give away five 64GB OnePlus One (Review | Pictures) smartphones if it misses either one of the deadlines - users have to reply to the announcement on the forum post to be eligible to receive a handset.

OnePlus also detailed some of the reasons for its delay rolling out Lollipop updates to One smartphone users, saying that though it "never intended" to keep users waiting, the firm ran into "some unexpected roadblocks." Reasons include an OS signing issue, camera module instability requiring a rebuild for compatibility, and Wi-Fi and other "crucial drivers" requiring updates.

As for the OnePlus Power Bank, first introduced in December, the firm says it has been launched in the US and shipping would begin from Tuesday.

The firm says fans in Europe and India will not have to wait long to get the OnePlus Power Bank, and is citing issues related to shipping 'pure batteries' and battery certifications for different markets for the delay. No launch time-frame was announced however.
