OnePlus One Gets New OxygenOS Build That Claims to Fix Touchscreen Issues

After releasing an incremental Cyanogen OS update last week that claimed to bring fixes for the long-lamented touchscreen issues of the OnePlus One, the Chinese manufacturer has released an OxygenOS build to address the same.

The 716MB build of OxygenOS is claimed to contain a patch for the touchscreen issue, and the firm has not detailed any further changes that come along with the new build. In the same announcement post on its forums, OnePlus also linked users to a migration tool made by developers at Fastboot Mobile and XDA. The tool will help users easily migrate from CM11S or CM12S to OxygenOS without losing their data - the firm warns however that the tool is still in beta, and may not work as expected.

With the release of Cyanogen OS 12 build version YNG1TAS2I3 last week, OnePlus claimed to have fixed touchscreen sensitivity issues, Bluetooth connectivity issues with several in-car systems, and MMS sending issues on several carriers.

The offending touchscreen issue has been plaguing some users of the OnePlus for a while, and the company has acknowledged the issue several times, and many attempts to fix it. Notably, OnePlus has previously tried to fix the touchscreen issues on OnePlus One handset back in November last year by rolling out an OTA update. In August, OnePlus had pushed the CM11S 33R update for the touch unresponsiveness, but it had only fixed the issue partially.

OnePlus had last month announced the OnePlus One would be receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop-based CM12.1 "soon". The firm added that the OxygenOS update based on Android 5.1 is currently on hold and will be made available for the OnePlus One only after the OnePlus 2 itself is launched. Notably, the entire team for now is said to be working on the OxygenOS release for the OnePlus 2, and can't focus on the OxygenOS OTA update for the One handset side-by-side, the company claimed. As for the Cyanogen OS 12.1 update, the OnePlus team says a preview build is currently undergoing factory testing and Google certification.
