OnePlus 5T has received a firmware update. The over-the-air (OTA) update, debuted as OxygenOS 4.7.4, improves camera performance on the latest flagship OnePlus smartphone. Recently, the Chinese company was reported to consider the early user feedback to improve the dual camera setup on the OnePlus 5T. That development appears to be the source for the new OxygenOS update.
The OxygenOS 4.7.4 update for OnePlus 5T is based Android Nougat and is sized at 285MB. As per the official changelog posted on OnePlus forums, the OxygenOS update has a bunch of camera improvements. There is an optimised UI of the default Camera app and some improvements to enhance the quality of photos through the new OnePlus smartphone. However, OnePlus hasn't elaborated on the improvements.
A previous report suggested that OnePlus is cooking up improvements to low-light photography and selfie shots on the OnePlus 5T and making the beautification mode optional.
The OxygenOS 4.7.4 update also has system-level improvements, including optimisations for audio from speaker and earphones, face unlock, and vibration. There is also an optimisation for battery usage on Wi-Fi. Additionally, the update includes an improved stability of fingerprint and GPS and comes with general bug fixes and system stability improvements.
"For those who were on previous versions for OnePlus 5T, we appreciate your active feedback and attempts to reach out to us. With your help, we have been able to better optimise and improve several key areas," OnePlus' Jimmy Z writes in a forum post.
The OxygenOS 4.7.4 update is rolling out 'incrementally', the term OnePlus uses to indicate a phased rollout, and will reach a broader number of OnePlus 5T users in the coming days. You can check its availability by going to Settings > System updates. It is advisable to back up data before beginning the update process. Also, you are recommended to use a Wi-Fi network to download the update package.
Last month, OnePlus released the OxygenOS 4.7.2 update for OnePlus 5T with face unlock improvements. The last update also optimised fingerprint scanning features and included some performance enhancements.
