OnePlus knows how to grab public attention and the Chinese company seems to have done it yet again. Even though OnePlus 5 will be globally unveiled next week, the registrations for the smartphone have already opened are attracting great interest in China. At the time of writing this report, around 1.10 lakh people have already registered for the upcoming flagship from OnePlus. Chinese website JD.com has opened registrations for OnePlus 5 ahead of its official launch on June 20 and if registration numbers are anything to go by, the smartphone is going to be a smash hit in the country.
We would like to clarify over here that registrations are not the same thing as pre-orders and customers are not required to pay any money while registering themselves for the device. However, registrations do reflect the general interest in the smartphone and as of now, the interest for OnePlus seems to be at its peak.
Talking about the specifications of the OnePlus 5, the company has confirmed that smartphone features a dual camera setup, which was developed by company in partnership with DxO. The company has also confirmed that the smartphone packs a Snapdragon 835 processor.
Moving to the leaked specifications, the OnePlus 5 has been tipped to run OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and feature a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display. The smartphone is expected to be offered in two RAM variants, i.e. 6GB and 8GB. In terms of storage, the phone has been tipped to come with either 64GB or 128GB.
In terms of optics, OnePlus 5 is expected to sport a dual camera setup at the back that has one 20-megapixel sensor and another 16-megapixel sensor. At front, the smartphone has been tipped to come with a 16-megapixel sensor. OnePlus 5 has been tipped to house a 3300mAh battery and come with NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 support as well.
The price for OnePlus 5 has been tipped to start at $479 (roughly Rs. 30,800). In India, the pricing for the smartphone was suggested to start from Rs. 32,999, with the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant expected to cost Rs. 37,999.
Recent render leaks as well as the company's official teaser image has all but confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will feature a design quite similar to Apple's iPhone 7 Plus.
