OnePlus has cancelled the rollout of OxygenOS 5.0 update for the OnePlus 5, citing a bug that disrupted the global release of the software. Instead, the company is preparing to roll out OxygenOS 5.0.1 and a partial release for that will go live soon. OxygenOS 5.0 was previously rolled out as an incremental over-the-air (OTA) update for the OnePlus 5.

In an update to the original forum post, a OnePlus staff member mentioned that the global release of OxygenOS 5.0 on OnePlus 5 has been cancelled because of a bug on the build. This will be replaced by the newer OxygenOS 5.0.1, a partial release of which will be pushed out soon. After two open beta releases, OnePlus 5 had started receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo-based OxygenOS 5.0 update late last month. This update includes the Face Unlock that was borrowed from the newer OnePlus 5T.

The OxygenOS 5.0 update on OnePlus 5 also had features like an upgraded launcher with support for shelf optimisations and the ability to let users upload directly through Shot on OnePlus. The Camera app got a facelift with new UI design and optimisations for photography. Apart from that, this update added a bunch of core updates like a new Quick Settings panel, an adaptive mode screen calibration, and some system level optimisations for Wi-Fi and other connectivity options.

Notably, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T became the first phones from the company to receive the latest OxygenOS 5.0.1 update. The update comes with the latest December Android security patch, support for aptX HD, a new Wi-Fi hotspot manager, the new adaptive mode screen calibration, and other bug fixes.

There is currently no information on what features will be carried on to the OnePlus 5 in the new update. We will keep you posted about the developments on this front.
