OnePlus earlier this month unveiled the OnePlus 3T - an upgraded variant of its OnePlus 3 (Review) flagship. The smartphone goes on sale from Tuesday in the US in its Gunmetal colour variant, while the Soft Gold version will be launched soon. OnePlus has priced the 64GB model is priced at $439 (roughly Rs. 29,800) and the 128GB model is priced at $479 (roughly Rs. 32,500).
With the launch of the OnePlus 3T, the Chinese startup is also discontinuing the OnePlus 3 smartphone in the US as well as Europe. The continued availability of the original flagship in regions such as India is uncertain. The upgraded variant gets a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, a larger 128GB storage variant, a higher resolution 16-megapixel front camera, and a larger 3400mAh battery battery.
Apart from these differences, the OnePlus 3T is otherwise identical to the OnePlus 3. The dual-SIM smartphone bears an anodised aluminium metal unibody design, a fingerprint sensor on the home button, a Alert Slider switch, and capacitive hardware keys. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Snapdragon 821 SoC (two cores clocked at 1.6GHz and two cores clocked at 2.35GHz) is coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
As for optics, the OnePlus 3T sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX298 sensor (1.12-micron pixels), an f/2.0 aperture, OIS and EIS, and PDAF autofocus. It also bears a 16-megapixel front camera sporting a Samsung 3P8SP with 1-micron pixels, and an f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity options on the OnePlus 3T include 4G LTE (with support for India's LTE bands), Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and GPS/ A-GPS. It bears a USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It measures 152.7x74.7x7.35mm, and the same weight at 158 grams. It bears a 3400mAh battery that supports Dash Charge (5V 4A) fast charging technology.
