Just a day after the launch, OnePlus has already released the kernel source code files of the OnePlus 3 to developers. This will enable them to tinker with building custom ROMs and other software for the OnePlus 3, and build creative features for it.

The code is available for download on Github. OnePlus acknowledges that users may think that the company is looking to offload the burden, however it elaborates in its forum, "We're a small team, and we know that we haven't always been as supportive of the dev community as we should be. But, don't confuse our missteps for a lack of motivation or gratitude. We want nothing more than to provide you with the tools and support you need and deserve. With that in mind, today we're taking another big step in that direction."

Furthermore, OnePlus asserts it isn't stepping away from OxygenOS, and will continue to work on it. With this move, it just looks to give users more freedom and support to help create more features that they might want to use on the OnePlus 3. In any case, this is great news for developers who wish to tinker with the software on OnePlus 3.

The company unveiled the flagship through a VR event, and priced it at Rs. 27,999. The smartphone is available for purchase on Amazon India exclusively without the invite system. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based OxygenOS, and supports dual-SIM. It packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery with Dash Charge, and a fingerprint sensor at the front. The OnePlus 3 features a 5.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of inbuilt storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera.
