OnePlus was among several handset brands that promised an Android 8.0 Oreo update for its recent devices when Google revealed it for the first time. The company said that the OnePlus 5 as well as OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive the new Android build. After releasing the update in closed beta, the Chinese company has now made it available through the Open Beta program. Additionally, the OnePlus is receiving new a OxygenOS 4.5.13 update with improvements.

The company has made first Android O open beta build available to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users. OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users will receive OxygenOS Open Beta 25 and Open Beta 16 respectively. For user convenience, the company has detailed flash instructions to download the latest build. Before proceeding to flash, we recommend users to back up all personal data, even in cases where a data wipe is not needed.

As expected, the new update for the devices bump the OS version to Android 8.0 Oreo with features like picture-in-picture for supporting apps like YouTube and Maps; new auto-fill feature; new smart text selection; new quick Settings design, and updated security patch to September. OnePlus has also detailed that the new update will bring some changes to the launcher which will see notification dots added and users will be able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus.

Coming to OnePlus 5, the Chinese company seems to be on a spree when it comes to OxygenOS updates. Just days after rolling out OxygenOS 4.5.12 update for the OnePlus 5, the company has now released the OxygenOS 4.5.13 update. OnePlus says that the new update for OnePlus 5 will be rolled out over-the-air (OTA) 'incrementally', which is company speak for a 'phased rollout'. The company has also revealed that a broader rollout will start in a few days.

The changelog for the update seems more or less similar to what we saw in the last incremental update. The OxygenOS 4.5.13 update for the OnePlus 5 brings support for customisation of notification ringtone; improves launching speed of apps; optimises adaptive brightness, and fixes issue of YouTube video lagging behind audio. The update also brings fixes for display issue of some UI elements and also fixes issue of no 4G+ network in some regions. There are general bug fixes also included.
