Obi Mobiles, the brand backed by ex-Apple CEO John Sculley, on Monday announced the availability of five new dual-SIM smartphones, all of which were introduced in the market in the month of August. The smartphones, namely S400, S450, S500, Python S452, and Wolverine S501, are available with select online and physical retail outlets in India.
While the Obi Python S452 and S500 are both priced at Rs. 5,990, the S450, S400, and Wolverine S501 are priced at Rs. 4,990, Rs. 4,200 and Rs. 7,850 respectively.
The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean-based Obi Python S452 (Seen Above), which was seen listed on the company website last month, features a 4.5-inch IPS screen with FWVGA (480x854 pixels resolution, dual-core 1.2GHz processor (unspecified), 1GB of RAM, a 2-megapixel autofocus rear camera, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of inbuilt storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB), and a 1400mAh battery. The battery is rated to deliver up to 180 hours of standby time and 360 minutes of talk time.
The connectivity options include 3G (both SIMs), GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS/ EDGE, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The Python S452 measures 135x62x10mm, weighs 145 grams and is available in White colour variant.
The highlight of the Obi Python S452 is its rear-mounted physical buttons, which is reminiscent of the LG G2 (Review | Pictures) and the all new LG G3 (Review | Pictures). The smartphone also sports leather-like material at the back, similar to some Samsung Galaxy handsets.
The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean-based Obi S450 (Seen Above) features a 4.5-inch OGS screen with an FWVGA (480x854 pixels resolution), dual-core Mediatek 1.2GHz processor (MTK6572), 512MB of RAM, 2-megapixel auto focus rear camera with BF3920 CMOS sensor, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB), and a 1800mAh battery. The battery is rated to deliver up to 230 hours of standby time and 8 hours of talk time.
The connectivity options include 3G (both SIMs), GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, GPRS/ EDGE, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The Python S450 measures 133.6x67.4x11.25mm, weighs 137 grams and is available in White colour variant.
The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean-based Obi S500 (Seen Above) features a 5-inch IPS screen with an FWVGA (480x854 pixels resolution), dual-core Mediatek 1.2GHz processor (MTK6572), 512MB of RAM, 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with CMOS sensor, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB), and 1800mAh battery. The battery is rated to deliver up to 230 hours of standby time and 8 hours of talk time.
The connectivity options include 3G (both SIMs), GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, GPRS/EDGE, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The Python S500 measures 145x72.6x9.7mm, weighs 157 grams and is available in White colour variant. The highlight of the Obi S500 is its perforated plastic rear panel, which is resembles the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Review | Pictures).
The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean-based Obi S400 (Seen Above) features a 4-inch screen with WVGA (480x800 pixels resolution), dual-core 1.2GHz processor (unspecified), 512MB of RAM, 2-megapixel auto focus rear camera with CMOS sensor, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB), and 1500mAh battery.
The Obi S400 is available in White colour variant and is yet to be listed on the company's website. The smartphone's highlight is its rear camera design with circular button.
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat-based Obi Wolverine S501 (Seen Above) features a 5-inch IPS screen with an FWVGA (480x854 pixels resolution), dual-core Mediatek 1.2GHz processor (MTK6572), 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with CMOS QSXGA (2560x2048 pixel) image sensor and OmniBSI technology, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB), and 1500mAh battery. The battery is rated to deliver up to 180 hours of standby time and 360 minutes of talk time.
The connectivity options include 3G (both SIMs), GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS/EDGE, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The Obi Wolverine S501 measures 144x73x9.6mm, weighs 167 grams and is available in White colour variant.
Obi in July launched its first smartphone in India, the Obi Octopus S520, at Rs. 11,990. Some of the features of the device are 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixel) IPS display, octa-core MediaTek (MT6592) processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of inbuilt storage (up to 32GB via microSD card), 8-megapixel autofocus rear, 2-megapixel front-facing, and 1800mAh Li-ion battery.
