Nokia is pushing out a minor software update to its Nokia X Android
smartphone. The new update version 11.1.1 is now rolling out OTA
(Over-The-Air) to Nokia X smartphones globally and is currently available in India.
The key
changes brought with the version 11.1.1 software update, compared to
version 10.0.3, include various software performance improvements, and
the ability to change third-party app tiles. The new software update for
Nokia X is 16MB in size.
Nokia confirmed the roll-out on its
Support Discussions page and said, "We have started rolling out a new update for Nokia X
(RM-980): v. 11.1.1. This is a minor release and available via OTA
(Over-The-Air)."
For those unaware, the Nokia X is based on the
Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and is powered by Microsoft and
Nokia services.
Earlier on Tuesday, a report suggested that Nokia's first
Android smartphone has been a smash hit in China. Nokia's first Android
smartphone, the Nokia X was sold out immediately
in China, according to some reports citing an online retailer.
However, the report did not make it clear how many units were available
for pre-order on the JD.com site.
The Nokia X offers dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support with dual
standby. The first Android phone from Nokia features a 4-inch IPS LCD
display with a 480x800 pixel resolution, translating to a pixel density
of 233ppi.
The smartphone is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm
Snapdragon S4 processor, alongside 512MB of RAM. It sports a 3-megapixel
rear camera. The Nokia X handset comes with 4GB of inbuilt storage,
which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
The Nokia X
supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, EDGE, GPRS and 3G
connectivity options. It is backed by a 1500mAh battery, which is rated
to deliver up to 13 hours of talk time and up to 672 hours of standby
time on 2G network. The Nokia X is available in its Black, Green, Cyan,
Yellow, Red, and White colour variants.
