Just a day after the news of the purported Nokia 9 FCC certification surfaced online, it has now been spotted that the new Nokia flagship will probably feature a dual selfie camera setup. The smartphone appears to sport two 5-megapixel image sensors, similar to what appeared in a leaked render recently.
The FCC listing that we reported on Wednesday showed the presence of a 5-megapixel front camera sensor on the Nokia 9. Notably, the listing highlighted a Chicony CKACE16 module that is now found to have a dual camera system, as reported by folks at GSMArena. Taiwan's Chicony site states the module has two 5-megapixel autofocus image sensor that supports full-HD (1080p) video recording. The system has one sensor with an f/2.4 lens and the other one with an f/2.0 lens.
With the listed dual camera module, the Nokia 9 is expected to capture compelling self-portrait shots as there is a wide enough aperture alongside autofocus technology. The front camera also appears to be a decent option for video chat as it supports 1080p video recording. Moreover, a recently leaked render already showed the presence of the dual front cameras.
From all the details that have emerged so far, it is clear that the Nokia 9 will come in three different variants around the globe. While the handset with model number TA-1042 was spotted on China's 3C site earlier this month, its variant with model number TA-1005 was debuted on FCC earlier this week. The most recent model is found to have 128GB onboard storage and run Android 8.0 Oreo.
The FCC listing also confirmed that the Nokia 9 will come with a 5.5-inch OLED display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC as well as sport 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel camera sensors on the back. The smartphone is also listed with a 3250mAh battery with fast charging support.
As per some early reports, the Nokia 9 will arrive at an event on January 19. Alongside the new flagship, Finland's HMD Global is rumoured to bring Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 8 (2018) next month.
