Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 have started receiving their Android 8.0 Oreo updates. HMD Global on Monday pushed the new update rollout in China and is set to deliver an identical experience to its last year's Nokia 6 soon. The latest development emerges days after the company released Android Oreo Beta Labs for the original Nokia 6 in India.
As confirmed by HMD Global via Weibo, the Android 8.0 Oreo update is rolling out for the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 with a bunch of new features. The update not just brings the newest Android but also improves the user experience with more concise and fluid interface, new generation background management, and enhanced power-saving features. Also, you can expect core Android Oreo features such as Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, new Notification dots, Background limits, Auto-fill, and Smart text selection.
The Android Oreo update is likely to be rolled out in phases, and the company would provide a push notification upon its arrival. In the meantime, you can manually check the Android Oreo availability on Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 by going to Settings > Software updates.
Alongside updating the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7, HMD Global is preparing an Android Oreo update for the original Nokia 6. There aren't any concrete details available on the part of its arrival. However, the Finnish company released Android Oreo beta update for the same handset back in December. HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas also recently revealed that the Nokia 6 Android Beta Labs reached India.
Interestingly, the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7, and Nokia 6 (2017) all are currently running Android Nougat - despite the fact that the latest Nokia 6 model was debuted just earlier this month. HMD Global has so far released a stable Android Oreo update for the Nokia 8. Nevertheless, the company released the Oreo experience for its affordable Nokia 5 through a beta build last month and is set to bring even Android 8.1 for the Nokia 2.
